How to: Set Nokia N8 to full brightness and override the light sensor!

Nokia N8 owners (well all Symbian^3 owners) have a fantastic AMOLED display that’s really quite bright. Unfortunately, the over zealous light sensor never lets you see that true brightness, always ever vigilant to turn the brightness down. Thus in many comparison shots, the N8 doesn’t look as bright.

Fahoum sends us this neat little tip that’ll get your N8 to fireout the lumens to the max.

  1. Go to Ovi Store and download QTorch
  2. Turn it on
  3. Press menu button to leave it running in background
  4. Notice how much brighter the display becomes!

Even in dim light, (where the brightness is reduced by default) the brightness remains. It’s almost too bright actually. It looks great although note this may have adverse effects on your battery.

This is quite useful for N8 users anyway as a torch as the N8 screen is that bright (and also N8 is lacking led for this function)
