Thanks to @evleaks, now we can see the other side of the Nokia Lumia 630, we can see that the camera button is missing. Moreover, there is no flash on this all touch device. I wonder if there will be a quicker way to start the camera app? Despite Lumia inspiring Apple to introduce colour […]

I don’t know about you but on the larger screened Nokia Lumia 1520, I am enjoying that larger keyboard for texting. It makes me wonder how on earth I typed so efficiently on the 3.7″ 800 (though comparing to the 3.5″ N8 did help). As seen above the keyboard appears much smaller. The screenshot above […]

A couple of days ago, Rudy showed a teaser about his upcoming app, CloudSix. In the video below, WPC demoes this new DropBox Client and says that apps for One Drive, Box, Mega and Google Drive are on the way too. Features: Access all your photos, docs and videos from any device. Automatically save […]
Whilst technically a “mini” version, the Z1 compact also houses a 20MP camera like the original Z1. Marc from the PureViewClub has some comparison shots with crops to see the detail. http://pureviewclub.com/2014/21806 The result is quite surprising in that the Sony doesn’t really perform that well. Cheers Alvester for the tip!
HEREHERE blog reports that Yahoo! has picked up some indoor venue navigation. Apparently, the average person spends 90% of their time indoors. Here helps by extending technologies used to map outdoor locations to indoor venues.
Here’s a nicely shot promo of the Nokia Lumia 1320. It looks to be done in one sweeping take, moving from one scene to another but still being part of the same shot. The topic is “seeing the bigger picture” and features the 6″ screen rather prominently. It’s nice to see the focus is just […]
This lady is getting a reputation for being a little ‘crazy’ at Nokia. The weird and wacky of the day is charging the phone by dancing. Or kinetic charging. Some watches have this feature. The main aim is really to charge by passive movement. We can actively use movement to charge things with devices […]
Pics: Nokia Lumia 1520 vs Sony Xperia Z2 + Sunlight readability test video (Note 3, vs iPhone 5 vs 1520)
It’s often difficult to see screen comparisons from another picture or video. They’re usually best seen in person. Such was the case here when comparing the Nokia Lumia 1520 against the new Sony Xperia Z2 with what Sony calls an improved display. Credit where it’s due, it’s a beautiful and vibrant screen. Where sunlight readability […]
As previously stated, in the change of branding from SkyDrive to OneDrive (to due BSkyB thinking it would be confused with their products…) MS offered an extra 3GB for those who used the auto upload feature. Something I’ve been a major fan of since first going WP. Today I received my confirmation that I’ve got that […]
Rudy Huyn tweets that he’s made yet another app, a cloud storage one during MWC. He says this will be available tonight. I’m not quite sure specifically which cloud storage this will be for. Reddit isn’t either and is hoping it might be called 6box (drop box) or even work with all the […]
First things first, I feel so out of the loop. Facebook trends? I knew facebook had been trying the whole twitter popularised #hashtag, but I didn’t know they had a similar ‘trending’ thing that shows the popular topics in discussion. Anyway, Cortana seems to be one of the top topics, along with Scarlett Johansson’s pregnancy […]
For those who haven’t even seen part one of Nokia Asha Tips, check this link out first. Nok Conv already has part 2. Most seem straight forward things but there are some neat things everyone might not be aware of such as changing the QWERTY keyboard back into the super classic T9 mode.
Samsung is using all their muscle (money) to pretty much be everywhere. Advertisments 24/7 in your face, product placements, endorsements, what have you. And it’s working. After briefly riding on Apple’s coattails with their iPhone clones, they got the recognition they needed and now are going from strength to strength with their products in their […]
Whilst WP has had voice controls for a while and WP8 did slightly improve on them, project Cortana is bringing with it a huge overhaul to the voice control’s usability. Tom Warren has leaked some info now and again and now shows us some more. First what Cortana looks like above and the settings page […]
Another part of the 007 themed new Nokia handsets. Something codenamed, “Martini” says @evleaks. Shaken not stirred? Perhaps some next gen OIS handset or perhaps the name is fitting for another reason entirely. Nokia watchers: look out for Martini, another Windows Phone Blue handset. — @evleaks (@evleaks) March 3, 2014 Cheers Alvester for the tip!
Over at GSMArena, they have a leaked image of the new Oppo Find 7, which as well as having an insane 2560×1440 display might also feature a PureView rivalling 50MP Camera. Now it was Nokia themselves that said it’s not all about the MP. The 808 and 1020 have the biggest MP but also the […]
Video: WP8.1 booting on ASUS eeePC and Sammy netbook. qHD (960×540) and QHD (2560×1440) resolutions seen again.
eeePC! I haven’t heard that name in ages. The netbook king before tablet killed off netbooks. Anyway, check it out here booting WP8.1. It’s interesting to see both panels (start screen, app menu) on the same screen. That’s more an artefact. Only the ‘left’ side behaves as you’d expect. The right menu list sort of […]
Earlier today there was a post discussing and detailing getting the Android Nokia Store onto Jolla’s Sailfish OS. Here, Nicolas Suffys demoes the store in action. Video is in French. I don’t know precisely what’s being said other than the odd word (telecharger…download?) Nicolas SUFFYS
At MWC, Nokia announced BBM would be coming to Nokia Lumia (amongst other apps). Well, Nokia X is a given since that’s Android. But it may be coming to Nokia Asha too. NokConv asked the folks of BBM about getting it on Asha. Normally we wouldn’t see Nokia answering let alone asking about future things […]
Nokia CTO: New Nokia building advanced technologies with partners, license huge patent portfolio (Samsung PureView :p)
Henri Tirri, Nokia CTO says that the ‘new’ Nokia (after D&S is gone) will capitalise on innovations in sensors, materials and cloud. Nokia has a huge and rich patent portfolio. Not only will licensing deals be made but also advanced R&D with partners too. The once dominant Finnish mobile giant will reinvent itself in the […]
