Video: Syncing Gmail Calendar to Symbian^3 (demoed on N8)

In this video demo TheRacerex shows us how to Sync Gmail Calendar and Contacts on Symbian^3 devices like the Nokia N8, as well as the different ways that you can access your GMAIL email on the N8.

For Calendar Sync: Settings>Phone>Mail>Mail for Exchange and pop in your details. Email, Password, put user name as the email and then MfE server as m.gogle.com.  I can’t seem to get calendar to Sync. A long route to get your gmail info is to export from gmail and import into ovi calendar (and sync via ovi Calendar).

Alternatively there’s an app called rainlendar that actually does show calendar syncing

Oddly MfE mail seems to be a little more responsive that the actual gmail mailbox. Perhaps that’s something to do with the HTML download being disabled for security reasons (as said by the little pop up)

Just tried Ovi Calendar and adding some reminders and Birthdays..What a total pain. I keep getting errors of “oops, reminder cannot be after the start” and will not save despite the reminder being set days before the event.

Having said that, syncing is a breeze. I have auto sync set up and also the manual sync button. Things I’ve just managed to add online are in my phone which helps.
