| February 3, 2011 | Comments (16)

An update for Ovi Suite 3.0 got pushed out in addition to the firmware update for the C7. Although nothing major or revolutionary it should serve to fix some problems that users previously had. It’s a 72MB download (Lolwut?) and should show up as soon as Ovi Suite is opened.

Change log:

Simplified sync of contacts to ovi.com

Switch to syncing contacts directly between the device and Ovi

Important fixes to connecting the device and computer.

If this was Apple or Google software update, Engadget would be reporting it as BREAKING NEWS.

    • Andre says:

Well yes…. they announced Apple hiring people for LTE for their phones division.

MeeGo computers does the same and is ignored.

Medfield dev devices with detailed specs leak… and they get ignored.

Some random tipster talks about HTC devices and they’re all over it. Not quite sure what to say most of the time lol.

      • N8Fanboy says:

Exactly! The tons of people that Nokia have been hiring to work on MeeGo is staggering!

Since Engadget doesn’t report it, people think MeeGo is dead. You can see the ignorance in the comments that site receives.

I wouldn’t have found this place if it wasn’t for Engadget so the site does have its uses…

Though I can’t even bring myself to read their news anymore let alone read the cesspool that is their comment section.

Yes, and it is not Nokia’s fault as some people seem to think.

Finally 1.1 is coming. Now I am playing with update 2. The branch looks rather clean, stable and good quality. It convinces me that update 2 won’t take a very long time to roll out the new features

Equaliser and replay etc for music player will be supported. I think it also supports continuous auto-focus for video, plenty of new features have been added.

What about the camera interface? Is it faster to change scene modes now? Can you now change the scene straight from the main screen without having to go to menu? I hope they’ve done that, because now it’s very cumbersome to change from the menu. Takes way too many clicks and too much time.

      • alex68 says:

emmm, no short cut key for scene mode like the flash light mode. But it has only one more click, screen setting button – scene modes – select the scene.

        • alex68 says:

But it could change to use list for elements of scene mode. The interface is not consistent…

But I think this GUI mod can be done with QT UI update. No urgency to handle it now. User defined mode was fixed in 1.1 already…

        • alex68 says:

It still doesn’t remember last settings such as scene mode and flash light mode. Not good…

          • Cocco Bill says:

Thanks for the info alex68. Lets hope they address that last settings remembering issue and scene mode selecting. Maybe they’ll do a total interface overhaul when going to Qt.

Can I set custom JPG compression modes in 1.1? (i.e. I prefer 97% on high) ? Or maybe the default compression levels were increased?
