iTunes wireless sync for Nokia N8 from Nokia Beta Labs with Music WithMe (for S^3/S^1)

| February 9, 2011 | 25 Replies

Fahoum sends this tip in about a new app from Nokia Beta Labs. Developed by ParkVu this app allows you to sync your iTunes library to your phone (e.g. N8 as an example) over WiFi or 3G data.

“Music WithMe is a simple to use application for getting music from your iTunes library onto your mobile phone. It syncs the playlists you choose, automatically and wirelessly.”

Check it out at Nokia Beta Labs:

  1. Music WithMe pour Symbian, synchronisation de playlists iTunes | February 9, 2011

That’s genious if it works. Brilliant.

One thing that made me stop using Apple was wanting to share my iTunes library (laptop) to my desktop (linux) and they kept purposely breaking the sharing (daap?) protocol in every update, just for the sake of breaking it. Moved away from Apple and never looked back.

So let’s hope they will not break this.

I really don’t like itunes. But maybe is usefull for iphone users that now use nokia phones. (i’m one of them :) )

  3. h3csc says:

This is rather interesting although I won’t put it into use as I’m not a fans of iTune nor interested in music synchronization. I would stick to Dukto for music transfer.

Btw, is it developed in Qt? The UI looks quite Qt-ish. Or in another word, looks quite neat!

Are there any other options to wirelessly sync music? I hate having to connect my phone to my PC to copy files. I would like something similar to dropbox on my N8, as soon as I am on my home wifi I should be able to drag and drop anything on my PC directly to the N8 without a prompt or user interaction. Maybe there is already something like this and I am just oblivious. If there is please fill me in!

    “Join Ecosystem” LOL

    • I hate fanboy! says:

+1 where is the like button?
Sadly not the ecosystem I’m looking for. This one is pretty much like NATO joing Warsaw Pact during the Cold War.

  6. lx says:

I am watching for a music player with which it is possible to sync not the whole pc compilation nor a playlist but the checked tracks (like iTunes with an iPod, which I dislike). In this way I have a better overview, I don’t have to switch permanently between a playlist and the main list to look which song is already syncronised.
This would be a great feature on ovi music but maybe there is a patent on it…

  7. Dominique Rohr says:

does the tool work for anybody out there?

  8. dfa says:

    Doesen’t work for maemo. :(

  9. akse says:

I hope they make the app support multiple software, not just itunes.

  10. Shawn says:

Can u add the images to the post.. make it look more sexy…lol

  11. stylinred says:

ive never used itunes, ive refused to ;) lol but this is a great app i know some people who will be ecstatic

  12. zef says:

Thanks, no Itunes… my N8 sync perfectly with Rythmbox under Ubuntu, transfering the music from the digital7 store to my music in the phone, never tried digital 7 ? A very good option for thoses who believe they wont burn in hell if they dont trust Ithings :-)

    • Don says:

Does it? I’ve had lots of issues with it, using the sync protocol. Mass storage probably would work, but that’s not as convenient.

What did you do / which version to use Rhythmbox to manage playlists and sync with N8? :)

  13. Valmon says:

A bit off topic here, but does anyone know how to get album pictures to show up on the N8?

If I’ve bought a track from Amazon then the picture shows up fine, however if I rip one of my cds (either .wmv or .mp3) then no picture shows up, but the track plays okay.

    • Valmon says:

I meant .wma up there, obv! Oops!

    • stylinred says:

Im not sure about tagging with .wma

but with MP3s you can use a program like mp3tag and add album covers to your music (there are a lot of programs for this but thats what i use easy and direct to the point)

on a side note when i switched my music collection from my N8 memory to my memory stick it messed up all the album covers -_-

      • Valmon says:

        Thanks for the reply.

Forget WP7, let’s hope the announcement is about Microsoft and Nokia fixing the media player album cover problems!

I hate iTunes!!, MediaMonkey make playlist, rip cd, transfer file, clearly organize the music library, accept any device and music format! much much better than iTunes, less processor use, so trash the iTunes and we will doing a better ecosystem!!
