Nokia closing online shops in France, Spain and the Netherlands

| June 2, 2011 | 10 Replies

Nokia closed their online shops in France, Spain and the Netherlands as of 31st of May. In those three countries potential Nokia buyers no longer have the ability to buy straight from Nokia.

Nokia has not given a reason as to why the shops are closed but presumably it wasn’t profitabel anymore to keep them open. Considering the pricing they had for phones it is a logical decision, Nokia’s own store is/was often the most expensive shop to buy from if you compared them to other online stores. And with the amount of alternative shops growing each year, a dedicated Nokia shop would have a hard time to compete with that.

There is no indication that stores in other countries will close, but it remains a possibility that it could happen.
People who ordered items from Nokia prior to the closing of the stores can contact Nokia Care for information on their order.

    weird eh?

I’m in UK – in Greater London.. the only Nokia retail stores (that you can walk into) i knew of were in Regent street – which closed (it was their flagship store).

Yet about 1/2 months ago, a Nokia shop has popped up in my local shopping centre?

    Bit Weird eh?

They are not the most, but more expensive, then usual online shops because THEY CHOSE TO so that same “usual” online acctually can sell something. You see, IF Nokia wanted to, they could have been selling devices far cheaper then any “alternative shop” simply because THEY ARE THE MANUFACTOR!?

and yes the Swedish shop is also closed, just confirming

tbh i dont know why they have an online shop because they have to stick to MSRP and online retailers like Amazon etc don’t

Unless they offered other incentives (like they do at times) it just doesn’t make sense

Why not just make one shop with changeable currency? Would be more organized.

You would still have issues with shipping of items, but I guess that could be centralized in hubs.

Either way, I never understood why Nokia had those online shops. Prices were too high compared to retailers and the whole shopping experience wasn’t that joyous either.

Sad, but on the other hand, it’s great to see that despite the fact that Nokia is such a big company, they act quickly.

And why own shop Nokia is expensive? It is more reasonable after all to do the prices equal. Simply than they explain it..
