Chief Technology Office Rich Green leaves Nokia
Well, here’s another name to scratch off the list of executives working for Nokia. It appears that Chief Technology Officer of Nokia since 2010 and a member of CEO Stephen Elop’s Leadership team is taking leave from the company, likely effective immediately. HS.Fi is reporting that he is likely be on leave until the earliest end of 2011 and is unlikely to return to the company. Something known as gardening leave in common parlance. Speculation will likely run rampant, but the same source is claiming that he’s left the company due to a divergence in opinions with Elop regarding their decisions surrounding MeeGo.
Before you jump on Elop’s back it’s possible to consider that Elop doesn’t wish the cessation of next-gen OS and ecosystem development but to kill the relationship with Intel, likely due to reasons we’ve covered before.
In any case, the loss of Green will likely pose a hard blow to the company given his significant experience in developing and pioneering technologies such as Java and Unix (in the form of Solaris) Â during his 19 year tenure at Sun Microsystems. Wish him all the best for the future.
