Video: New, new, new! Opera Mobile 11.1 and Opera Mini 6.1
Opera has updated their Mobile Browsers with the new Opera Mini 6.1 and Opera Mobile 11.1.

One field does it all
You can now type both web addresses and search queries in your browser’s address field. Or, if you prefer, you can still use the search field with your favorite search engines.
Auto-suggest saves you typing
Suggestions from Google search and your browser history appear as soon as you begin typing. Select what you want, and you’re done.
Address entry is finished for you
Domains such as .com, .org, or .net are added automatically when typing a URL. Now, they also learn more from the sites you visit—such as .gov, .edu, .co.uk or that of your country.
Easy and powerful text selection
When you want to select text, hold your finger on what you want. Handles appear around a word that allow you to select precisely. You can then copy the text or search with it.
Complex pages made simple
An option to have webpages laid out in a single-column view makes it easy to read large webpages with many parts on a small screen, without needing to scroll back and forth.
Check out their test gadgets. That Transformer is quite tempting.
Here’s a video demo:
Cheers spacemodel for the tip!

So those ********* still only let the androids have the fun of changing the User Agent String -.- So many people have asked it endless times…
uhm, my fellow filipino modder have been changing ua for a while though i don’t use them.
This version download jar files without reverting to Nokia’s… Wait, nokias have built in web browsers?
I’m not talking of changing the proxies and UAs of Opera Mini…
I’m referring to the option of opera:config to enter a unique User Agent String. Opera Mobile for Android has it.
Even before Android saw the light of day, Users of Opera Mobile for Symbian have been asking it. Nearly every other browser has the ability to somehow to it. Even with S60WebKit, there’s a *.cre file to hack this.
Why doesn’t Opera implement it for Symbian!? I REALLY don’t get it. I am soooo disappointed. I have asked them so many times and even asked for an easier input way. So this is what we get. A droplist of Mobile/Desktop but still no custom ones -.-
dude i’ve been changing the user agent on my nokias since 2003.
Google ‘opera casts’
Is that meant for Opera Mobile?!
I have never tried this on prior versions (nor have I ever tried changing the UA on desktop browsers), but on 11 (running on my N8) you can go to opera:config and change the “spoof user agent”. Is that the same setting as on Android?
What the hell are you talking about?
I just opened Opera Mobile, went to settings, and under “Advanced” I found the option “User Agent:” with both options “Mobile” and “Desktop” supported.
In the new version you can at least change between mobile and desktop
my Facebook still shows the page in mobile view
Just navigate to http://www.facebook.com/home.php on your phone and it will go to the desktop version of facebook!
http://www.facebook.com/login.php?m2w
stupid facebook remove fullsite link and the web version is just a white page on my phone.
If I weren’t content with mobile view, I would’ve use a googlebotUA om6.
Thanks a ton, Fadi.
Screw all these news! Why can’t I overclock my Nokia N8 yet?!
Coz we dont want you hurting yourself
I would just prefer to remove the underclocking that’s in place on the N8 rather than overclocking it.
+1
is the zoom level in Opera mini still limited? The one feature that I would love is to be able to zoom further in.
yes, still limited. I too would like more zoom. I would also like if mini would text reflow when changing from landscape to portrait of visa versa. Reloading the page gets tiresome.
thanks, nice update!
it’s a hella fast now less loading time a good update
I’ve made a short test between Mini6; Mini6.1; Mobile11.1 and Symbian N8 browser.
I’ve cecked one of my favorites http://www.dpreview.com for it.
I always deleted the cache where it’s possible and I had a good 3G level all the time.
At first the speed in seconds (and the downloaded data):
Mini6: 18- 20s ( 0,2 MB )
Mini6.1: 18-20s ( 0,2 MB )
Mobile11.1: 57- 65s ( 1,7 MB )
M11.1 Turbo: 35- 40s ( 0,6 MB )
Symbian: 38- 45s ( 1,7 MB )
The second test was how the page look like.
Mini6: everthing is looking good but max. zoom level is too low
Mini6.1: the page doesn’t look like it should! The right part was not on the right it was on the bottom-left! Also the zoom level is too low.
Mobile11: everything is looking good the fast scolling is much better now than in 11.0.
The zooming level is extremely high the letters are perfect but pictures will be very soft at max. zoom.
In 100% size the letter are a little bit soft.
Symbian: everthing is looking good, all letters are very sharp in 100%. The zoom level is OK (higher than Mini but lower than Mobile).
Conclusion:
In the most cases the Mini6 will be the best because the speed is the best.
For special cases like higher zoom level or Flash (lite) the Symbian will do it right.
The Mobile 11.1 is better than the old 11.0 but much slower than the Symbian – a no go!
With Turbo it’s just a little bit faster than Symbian but far away from Mini6.
The Mini6.1 was the looser because of the wrong presentation of the page.
That’s all for now.
Please try it out by yourself and let us know!
I think with the new update firmware is coming sun, i em already using it…there might be the end era of Opera browser for nokia Symbian OS, and if there is really in need for data sawing browser a full desktop view…than Bolt browser does the job, otherwise as standard fast browser the new nokia TKit or Anna browser does real job from now on.
I guess it won’t come b4 the N9 is released to give N8 users another incentive to buy the latest Nokia flagship.
Ah, i forgot one more…the Bolt Browser does HTML5 and flash player…the sound is not that good, but it does.
Still they didnt provided the night mode. Wtf !!!
UC Browser has this featur since 2 years othewise there is no reason to stick with UC in night time.
Night Mode? What do you mean?
Now, that’s a feature I have never ever missed on any phone and I don’t think that will change my great opinion about Opera any time soon, if ever.
Night mode: probably a dark theme and lower brightness options. Becuz many low end phone dont have this feature. And its highly recommended for our eyes in the night time or when there is no light at all.
Damn.
It doesn’t allow to u save pages of opera mini v6 for s60v3,3.1,3.2
I can. I still have the old ones.
@mohit
I don’t know what you are talking about. It shows me an option to save the page when I press #9.
On the plus side theme effects are now supported by the new version, in older versions the app switching theme effects wouldn’t show when we used to switch to and from the opera mini application on S60 3rd edition FP2 phones.
@mohit
I don’t know how it doesn’t work on your phone. It shows me an option to save the page when I press #9.

I’m really thankful for Opera to provide this excellent browser to Symbian. This is what Nokia should have given us 9 months ago back in October when the N8 was released. I love the new improvements and really don’t understand how anybody could moan about something of this quality, especially given the fact that it comes for free.
OVI store dosn’t detect an update.. =(
OPERA FOR THE WIN! I LOVE THEM!!!
The best browsers ever have just gotten even better. Thanks a lot, Opera!
try ucweb and set the theme to night mode. Less glare when used in dark places. Less bother to other people next to you who are sensitive to light (fellow passengers, roommate).
It seems we have lost the mouse over function in this new version of opera mini. The old version allowed me to do a mouse over on my n8 by pressing both volume buttons.
I don’t have an opera account in the opera forums. Can someone who cares please post this in the opera forums and request for this feature to come back?
Or maybe there’s a new way to do mouse over that I’m not aware of.
Didn’t use Opera’s portrait QWERTY. Just hope when PR2.0 comes out we’ll have swype keyboard that supports split screen input…
getting stuck while..scrolling .on nokia 5233 was much bettr n previous version.bt th new user agnt option is gud able to browse facebook fullsite
I savor, cause I discovered exactly what I used to be having a look for. You have ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
I have been browsing online greater than three hours lately, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours. It is beautiful value enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net can be a lot more helpful than ever before.
I do not even know how I finished up here, but I thought this post was good. I do not recognise who you’re however certainly you’re going to a well-known blogger if you happen to are not already
Cheers!
I’m now not positive the place you are getting your information, however good topic. I needs to spend a while learning much more or understanding more. Thank you for great information I was on the lookout for this info for my mission.
