Rumour: Nokia N9 possibly releasing for UK?

| August 1, 2011 | 7 Replies

I spoke to my mate at Vodafone AU and he said he saw that there are rumours of that the UK will offer the handset from the 16th of August. (Apparently, Russia has a pre-order date the same as this). As we mentioned earlier, Australia has been suggested as the first market to launch the N9. So I asked him how much truth there was to it.

Although he wasn’t too sure, he did tell me that he is attending a conference here in Sydney during the week, featuring a keynote speaker from Nokia Australia. Will they announce the N9 at this conference? I’ll keep you readers up-to-date, and, if I’m lucky, I may be able to bring you a hands-on demo.

Heard any news about the N9′s release? Let us know in the comments below

“a memo on the international front saying UK will offer the handset from the 16th of August.”

Dear god i hope it is so!

It would be so much better if N9 comes to market in middle August than a month later in September when iPhone 5 is rumoured to be released. But knowing Mr Flop, he will probably do anything to hurt N9′s sales.

who cares of the iphone 5? i don’t think that the n9 has to hide before the iphone 5. a head to head would be very interesting.

Agreed, I suspect artificial slowing/delaying & limited roll-out will continue to be the norm, sigh.

i had vodafone on the blower last week telling me im due an upgrade and they tried to flog me the n8. i said i was waiting for the n9 and asked if they would be stocking it! he said YES but he wasnt sure on the release date here in the UK. so i guess theres still hope!!! ;o)

Good news story, thanks for sharing,
We need people talking to their carrier like this, & telling them what they want.
Not what Nokia thinks we want!
