Nokia the most popular brand in China
According to Zacks.com, Nokia has been ranked number 1 amongst the Top 50 most popular brands for Chinese Consumers in 2011.
The investigation apparently was bady by Superbrands, one of the world’s leading independent reasearch and evaluation institutions.
I can’t find the original report (where all sources indicate http://www.qq.com/), but there are other sources indicating the same story.

China is one of Nokia’s most important markets. Just this April, Nokia announced that Beijing will be a global innovation base for Nokia, with now over 250M Chinese users alone. More Chinese people (in China) use a Nokia phone than any other company uses any brand of phone worldwide. The Nokia 5230 was the most popular phone for web browsing, with about 90% of mobile web data coming from a Nokia. Beijing is also the global R&D centre for S30, S40 as well as one of the four major R&D bases for Windows Phone. (Also, wasn’t China much more friendly to Nokia’s mapping services last year than Google’s?)
Not wanting to rain on this parade, China was also where Nokia sales plummeted heavily in Q2 (as it did mostly everywhere). This due to the unrelenting competition from local manufacturers producing very cheap low end phones (as well as KIRFS) and the high end eaten away by big  A & G.
