Windows Phone Mango apps showed off in style

| September 15, 2011 | 24 Replies

There have been a ton of promo videos showing off Mango but this one caught our eyes and in our opinion shows off Windows Phone in a much better way in terms of the message Microsoft and eventually Nokia are trying to tell people.

The message “put people first” is a great message. Overall a pretty neat video and definitely a better start to advertising Mango compared to their first effort.

Can the reddish-orange background shown in the multi-tasking (sic) view can be changed to something that is less hurtful for the eyes?

    • John says:

I think that colour depends on what colour you have set the tiles on to.

I do think Microsoft should add more colours when it comes to tiles anyway.

    I LOVE YOU WP7!

As an N900 user for over a year I must admit that I am warming up to Windows Phone. I am looking from the perspective of the user experience. As much as I love my N900 and can’t wait to get my hands on the N9, I really like the Metro UI. My love for Symbian doesn’t change. I got my wife an N97 2 years ago and she loves it. I am planning to get an E7 to try out Anna and eventually Belle. Amazon USA is listing the blue one for only $378.28. Check it out:

id would swap my e7 for a n900 anytime i was given e7 as replacement because n900 no longer available im looking to sell mine on ebay soon

You are not in any way warming up to WP7 If Nokia has not gone for it, you would never have this feeling you are having.

It is a dead horse that is been flogged to survive,

I usually don’t like most of the phone ads, but I have to admit that this is a really nice video. Of course WP Mango has to prove itself once it’s on the market.

This is a developer-centric clip, but I think that non-developers will get the message loud and clear as well. Putting people first; Connecting People – Love It!

Really looking forward to a Nokia WP, and the Kindle ,IMDB, and AppFlow apps are going to be first on my list (after Plants v. Zombies) to download!

Come on Nokia WP with a 4″ screen!

  6. xxtronxx says:

did anyone recognize the similarity of the song they use here and “hello” by martin solveig?? plus the very last few tones totally reassemble the well know t-mobile melody, you know, that “da-da-da-da-daaaang”…
M$ – copycats even in their adds.. creepy!

    • Taigatrommel says:

That song is rather popular in quite some commercials right now, so I doubt we should shout out copycat at Microsoft here. Especially since they are at least using a heavily modified version of the music.

Anyways, I am still looking forward for the Nokia devices powered by Windows Phone. I really, really hope they’ll redo an E7 or N950 and put WP7 on it – that might be an instant buy.

    • Just Visiting says:

xxtronxx…First, that sounded NOTHING like the T-Mobile tone! But more importantly, Microsoft has actual audio technology that the design for all ‘tones’ associated with Windows Phone – from the ringtones, keyboard ‘clicks’, notifications, etc., in other words ALL tones associated with WP.

Put people first should be changed to put advertising first.. nothing to do with the people really.

  8. StylinRed says:

ive always felt that the apps and their ui etc look great but i wonder how much that feeling is influenced by the drab wp7 ui?

  9. Cod3rror says:

WP7… What have you done Nokia!?

  10. BellGo says:

I’ll be honestly surprised if WP Mango will sell a noticeable amount more than WP 7.

Why? Windows has advertised WP a lot, has had a lot of phone manufacturers sell their products, and despite all this WP is becoming less popular every moment. (By market-share)

Now this proves that people don’t like the Metro UI. (at least the way it is portrayed by WP) Android sold a lot when it was 2.0 or 2.1. It was the design which attracted people. Changes from WP 7 to 7.5 are like how Symbian changed when it got updated to Anna. Yes it got better, but the changes probably didn’t boost the sales that much, as it still had some limitations.

In a similar way for WP to succeed they don’t need to add 250 small features, but majorly change the design, because it is that which is causing the low sales. Like Symbian will change from Anna to Belle.

The only way for WP to sell more is trough Nokia, but if the buyers don’t like WP or prefer another operating system (as has happened with Samsung and HTC) they wont buy it again.

So I think Nokia’s future is dark. They are focusing only on WP, while they should still have more options, so that should WP not sell they wont fall to no 10 in phone manufacturing.

Again, maybe WP will sell. But as things are now, I don’t see why it would.
