Nokia Lumia 710 coming to USA
Something that wasn’t mentioned by Stephen Elop was the Lumia 710′s availability in the US. As you can see in the screenshot, it is everywhere on the Nokia USA home page.
Typically, only countries getting the particular device include in on their home page. So will we see the USA getting the 710, and if so, how long will they have to wait?
As usual, the only aspect on availability you can get is to be put on a mailing list. I’ve done so, that way when it’s released, you should be amongst the first to know.
Cheers to Richie for the tip!

no 800 in the USA now = no sale from me. and where is the 900/Ace? 800 comes up short compared to Titan / Focus S from what I have seen so far.
I am fairly sure they want to introduce in a US event. Perhaps CES in January (?).
You must be asleep for thinking that. HTC and Samsung simply can’t design good phones—it’s no secret. Their stuff are either too plastic or too feminine or purely iPhone-wanna-be. People are still buying their products thanks to the fact that they are often cheap, plus, touchscreen is still a new reality. Wait till 3-5years’ time and then assess again. Nokia is the undisputable design and quality champion. Most of all, Nokia is a European thing; and comparing their design with Korean and Taiwanese phone designs is like comparing Korean KIA cars with European cars like Mercedes, BMW and Volvo. Overall, it’s fantastic that most people realise it’s a good thing the difference between these two camps is clear.
I find the frequency support listed quite bizarre. 850/1900/2100 would make sense, 900/1700/2100 would make sense, 850/1700/1900 would also make sense, but 900/1900/2100 makes no sense at all for the US. Looks like they can’t make their minds up about which frequencies it actually supports, given the 800 is listed in some places as 900/1900/2100 and others as 850/900/1900/2100…
Nokia WP devices are tri-band 3G (900/1900/2100) devices.. Check on Nokia developer website..

That’s the thing, different parts of Nokia websites are reporting different things. The Lumia 800 is reported on the website to be quad-band, only missing AWS, and the Lumia 710 for US is listed as 900/1900/2100 which is clearly wrong – no company, certainly not Nokia – would be stupid enough to release a phone in the US with those frequencies. Since some of the websites are clearly wrong, either due to not making sense or being contradictory, I’d like to get some actual confirmation on what the frequencies really are.
the funny thing is.. the 800 doesn’t have penta band 3G bands .. I wodner if AT&T had something to do with that (no TMO bands) or is it a Wp7 limitation ? The N9 has all 5 bands, just like the symbian line
Who knows, but it makes me sad.. : (

It’s not AT&T, it’s Qualcomm, the Snapdragon can’t support more than 4 bands (I have no idea why, but that’s it). Apparently Nokia couldn’t do anything to work around it.
I do hope Microsoft expands the specs to support TI OMAP, but that might only come with Windows Phone 8.
Lumia… what an unfortunate name.
http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/lumia
“The Harmattan came all over the lumia.”
Harmattan is a wind, that makes no sense.
To anyone with half a brain, it’s pretty clear that Lumia means light. Particularly to anyone who speaks a Romance language, which includes Spanish.
“The Real Academia Española is an institution that is considered one of the authorities of the Spanish language. According to its online dictionary, “lumia” is a synonym for “prostituta.”
”
So prostitute it is, to anyone with a whole brain if not with half a brain, I guess.
But it’s really apt name when you consider that Nokia is now Microsoft’s whore anyway. So it’s nice to tell that fact also in the names of those products whored with MS. Now everyone knows which phones not to buy by the phone name alone.
hahaha…
Many homophones have different meanings. A hoe is both a garden institute and a prostitute. Mariposa means butterfly and homosexual. Gay means happy and homosexual. It goes on, it’s impossible to avoid some crass term in every single language. The people who try to bring it up as if it were serious have less than half a brain.
So we’re not allowed to joke about it then?
That’s a shame. Well, it seems like you are the boss here. So I’ll just shut up.
You got it.
The frequency bands seem a little off but I have a strong suspicion that this is Verizon’s CDMA phone. The different frequencies might be for simultaneously marketing this phone in another market such as Korea.
Nah, Verizon’s CDMA phone would be 800/1900.
I think in a keynote they said next year it will be available in the US. I think 603 is a better phone, will have 3G on both T-Mo and ATT and many other features that WP7 is still lacking. The end of echosystem support is steering me toward competition…
