Lumia 800 Knocked in Quarter-Finals of Gizmodos Gadget of The Year

As Jay mentioned yesterday the Lumia 800 was participating in Gizmodos “Gadget of the Year Contest” where it was first pitted against some lowly headphones (seeding purposes), then against a slightly more worthy foe The Nintendo 3DS, which unsurprisingly didn’t stand a chance. After that the Lumia 800 matched up against Androids latest flagship The Galaxy Nexus by samsung; unfortunately the 800 didn’t make it through that round, but it didn’t go down without a fight according to Gizmodo:

against the Galaxy Nexus, which juuuust edged the Lumia 800 (52 percent to 48).

Now I know Gizmodos gadget of the year isn’t really a recognized standard (or even a real comparison considering the number of fanboys out there) but one thing I’d like to point out is that the Lumia 800 a Windows Nokia phone lasted longer than the coveted eye-device on an american website! That by itself in my opinion is an achievement

And in case you don’t get tired of hearing prasie being sung to the 800 here’s what the entry vs the 3DS said: meets the best and prettiest and I-want-that-est Windows Phone.

However you cut it (whether your a N9 guy or a 800 guy or a N8 ) 2011 has been an impressive year for Nokia, bring on more goodies Nokia!  (and happy 2012 people- it’s already 30/12 so I’m allowed to jump the shark on it. *Maybe my lumia 800 will get here before the world ends 😛 )
