“Flo Ridas- Wild Ones” feat. Lumia 710
Sometimes I forget how much product placement goes into music videos, then I watch a music video and it all goes away; honestly some music videos have RIDICULOUS amounts of PP, thankfully Nokias role in this one is a bit less pushy. In “Flo Ridas” (never heard of him before) latest Music vid he calls all his followers to the beach on his ever trusty Lumia 710; right before riding away on his BMW Motorcycle and doing some wheelies.
Hate to point this out but according to the video he’s in Dubai (another Product placement, although I’m not sure you can use that for countries), yet I doubt those nightclub scenes are filmed there; and of course his tweet says #MiamiBeach, ehh at least his 710 didn’t turn into an iPhone halfway through.
Here’s the video for anyone interested, Sias part as always is amazing; as for flo rida that’s more of a personal taste of music (not for me) – Lumia 710 pops up at about 1:04
For the record if you want to see one of those vidoes with ridiculous amounts of Product placement then look no further than Dr. Dre “I Need a Doctor” I count Ferrari, Hp Touchpad/Pre , Hp Envy, GShock, K-Swiss, and Gatorade.. can you find more? (Also as the song title mentions lots of cursing going on here-some pretty interesting ones though)

Not my kind of music either but atleast Nokia is getting some product placemnts.
The black eyed peas – Boom boom pow
Do you know how many times and the different beats by dr. dre kinds are shown in this music vid?!
Beats Pro
Solo HD RED
Studio
Thats almost all the kinds they have. Only the solo isnt shown, but that’s because it’s crap.
Product placement has been a long, failed experiment in advertising for Nokia. It’s just not effective for this sort of commoditized, generic-looking product. It might make more sense for the Lumia lineup, with its comparatively iconic look, but selling features-based devices through product placement is a stupid idea in general.
Advertising Coca-Cola through product placement makes sense. It’s universally identifiable and it’s a product people choose almost exclusively on marketing perceptions.
Shift these advertising dollars to sales incentives for store employees. Get people on the ground pushing your products directly to consumers. Forget about questionable celebrities who show your product for a couple seconds in a medium where most people won’t even be paying attention.
I agree. No point in trying to place the Lumia 710. I had someone (admittedly he was drunk) ask if it was the Galaxy. Had another person (BlackBerry owner) think I was using an iPod.
It can be used to reinforce existing brands, I think the Nokia ringtone in Star Trek was good to remind people about Nokia and get them thinking about it.
Dropping in the Lumia 900 would make more sense. It has a distinctive look, and people would want to get it just because of how it looks, therefore going out of their way to find out what kind of phone it is.
I love this song because it was used in The Rock’s WrestleMania entrance. Lol. Also, I think Flo Rida has used Nokia 5800 on the music video of “Right round” (Theme song of Hangover and Ugly Truth) before.
