Is This the Lumia 610 (low end WP)??

| February 15, 2012 | 66 Replies

Not much to go on here, but Nok4Us.com seems to have received the following images in an email; claiming that this is the low end LTE/4G  WP device we where told to expect at MWC?  From the images it’s obviously a C7 styled device running WP; with colorful backs (like the 710)- the concept of it being C7 shaped doesn’t seem that far out considering how much the loved the design reusing it in the 701 (and the astound if it counts as a separate device).

Honestly I’m not a very big fan of the C7 design itself; and well those covers are a matter of personal taste (lets leave it at that); well what do you guys think? photoshop or the real deal?

  1. Viipottaja says:

Well it does resemble what I have heard of a low end Nokia WP in the works…

And once you switch out the covers this one should look quite nice, actually.

As such it would be great if Nokia was able to master the polycarbonate tech in patterned designs – not sure if that’s even theoretically possible though.

  2. Mate says:

Not bad, especially if they can hit the 150 euro mark with them…but I doubt it.

  3. Elisa says:

    So fake -.-

  4. Keist says:

All these Lumia designs are borrowed from either Meego or Symbian.

    • Janne says:

Where else? They are continuing the Nokia design tradition.

    • Harangue says:

Just like the 701 is actually just a C7?

      • Keist says:

The 701 is an upgraded C7 so the design similarity is just okay. But Nokia Windows Phones which are totally difderent phones haven’t started an original design language. They are ripping off Symbian and Meego designs.

        • Hypnopottamus says:

Wrong. They are Nokia designs. Let me repeat. NOKIA DESIGNS. It is for them to do with it what they please. It doesn’t matter what OS is on the device. As long as it’s a Nokia, it’s fair game. Saying that it was a “rip off” is implying that it was stolen. You can’t steal something that you already own. Not that hard to understand, right?

        • Janne says:

How exactly can Nokia rip off their own designs?

Nokia is already using some of the same designs in Series 40 and Symbian, which are completely different platforms also.

I think the notion that Windows Phone Nokia’s are somehow stealing from the good old Nokia is sometimes taken a bit far.

Sure, Nokia has publicly admitted to using designs that were already in the pipeline when kickstarting the Lumia program. No idea if this is one of them, but 800 and 710 certainly were (N9 and 603 respectively).

But even when they start new projects from scratch, I’m sure they want to continue using their design heritage and traditions. As they should. These are Nokia phones and they should look the part.

    • Mark says:

Actually they’re borrowed from Nokia. Oh wait… they are Nokia designs.

      • Keist says:

I’m wondering of there are separate Symbian/Meego and WP design teams. The Symbian/Meego team are the creative and innovative ones. And the WP team which was sent by Microsoft know nothing but copy.

        • Janne says:

          That must be it.

          No, wait…

        • migo says:

Totally wrong. The Symbian teams never did the designs, they had to put the OS on whatever hardware they were given. If the hardware guys made changes late, they couldn’t even veto the change to keep on schedule.

          • noki says:

Talking out of the proverbial ass are we???

There was a clear cross work between the UI team and the industrial design team, the N950 and the N9 clearly were madee thinking about swype.

Having said that yes its Nokias designs and they can do what ever

        • Mark says:

Eh… the hardware design teams don’t do software.

          So no.

    • J says:

How does a design borrow from an operating system?

All these Nokia designs, are borrowed from…wait for it…

      …little longer…

…put down the physics book Mr.Intelligent…

      …Nokia.

    • ms.nokia says:

they used to be meego and symbian designs, but then nokia gave up all rights to those designs to ms as part of the deal to use metro, then ms started to licence these designs back to nokia !!!!!
      shocking huh?

  5. SLAYER says:

im thinking why give lte to a 600 level phone when the 710 doesn’t have it? it doesn’t make sense tbh

  6. qromodynmc says:

    I dont like its design..Little samsung-ish eh?

  7. reptile says:

The bottom reminds me of the Blackberry Torch.

  8. jfjfjf says:

this picture is likely true becasue who has so much free time to design NOKIA(NOT APPLE, etc)rumour phone after nokia has been beaten heavily by apple

  9. Janne says:

I wonder if that is a 3.5″ device judging from the spacing of the capacitive buttons.

Pretty nice. Playing with colors and interchangeable covers is a classic Nokia strength. They should use it more.

  10. Just Visiting says:

    Volume rocker? Where is it?

    • Janne says:

I think I see it there, in the usual place top right… the picture shows two gray areas on the side that may be volume and power. I wonder if this is Tango without mandatory camera button – or is there no camera, I doubt they’d go that far.

This may of course turn out to be a mockup or fake.

  11. erzhik says:

Look really closely, and you will see gray buttons on the right. Looks like volume rocker, lock button in the center and camera button down below.

  12. Mushfiq says:

This design is not C7 . . . . And this is beautiful . I want somethin like this.

  13. dss says:

This, needs to be free on a 2 year contract.. just because you can get this for 50

  14. Vidyutron says:

Besides mono polycarbonates. c7′s and n8′ designs are the best nokia design and carrying it forward(even onto other platforms) is no harm.

  15. Irving says:

This is basically a C7 photoshoped, and i wouldve expected the 710 too look like this not the 610

  16. Bharat Justa says:

I’d like to see a WP with the N8 design and, a Symbian phone with the N9 design. I love Symbian more than any OS…but WP on Lumia 800 and 710 is very attractive. I would have bought a 710 if it had a better battery backup. I hope that Nokia shows a better performing device at MWC.

  17. D_Gui says:

    Look closely; it’s fake…

  18. ZiPA says:

Looking at some of the pixels, and having seen some photoshops in my life, I think this is fake.

  19. manu says:

symbian and meego is dead.so what it matters is windows and meltemi.

  20. himanshu says:

    its a fake image.

  21. dsmobile says:

well that picture is not far from the real thing. 701 looks better than that WP model.

    • Janimatik says:

Personally I like the design of that 610 and if the price is really less than 120 euros it will wipe the floor with the current Samsung models.

Any idea of the screen size? 3.5″ perhaps?

  22. Ruhul says:

I believe it will have similar res to c6. ~640X360. would be great for low end device. Nokia’s all Symbian full touch phones even 100 euro phones have that res display. so i guess it will have the same……
