Marketplace to be available to more than 180 countries at WP8 launch

According to the Windows Phone blog, more than 180 countries will have access to WP marketplace at launch. Finally! WP shot itself in the foot with the limited availability of marketplace (and language support). It currently stands at 63 and was even less than that when the first Lumias were launched. Nokia may have helped add their expertise in this as their own Nokia Store was already available in over 180 countries (though I’m not sure how many could purchase apps, but it was growing).

The table above shows the full list (though may still change) and you can see what new countries are available today. Developers can make app submissions from around 38 markets.

New App Hub:

This has apparently been rebuilt from the ground up to be more robust and scalable. Devs will have faster certification, publishing times, better reporting and more.

They note that the new architecture allows for app filtering based on resolution and other ‘key characteristics’ to help better target audiences. I hope there won’t be fragmentation involved due to inappropriate screen resolution. Any scaling going on?

Thanks Joni for the tip!
