Call to Arms: Aussie WinPhans Unite for ABC Apps #OurABCToo

I don’t normally write about things like this, but I’m feeling patriotic, especially with the biggest Nokia event of the year right around the corner!

Sheeds, arguably the biggest Windows Phone activist in Australia, and owner of WPDownUnder has a challenge for all Australian Windows Phone users (other users are welcome too, though you won’t benefit, the community will!).

ABC has a service called iView (similar to the BBC’s iPlayer that Jay always talks about), that allows services to be streamed to your device. ABC also has various other apps for accessing different content. Yet, not one is for Windows Phone (or Windows 8 either).

What Sheeds wants to do is simple, and it may just work. This weekend, use your Windows Phone devices (all of them!) to access the ABC’s sites. (Also, you can show your support by using the #OurABCToo tag).

All you need to do is click each of the three links below, once per device, on both Saturday and Sunday. The aim is to show the ABC that there are WP users out there wanting their content, and will hopefully apply a bit of pressure on them to make at least one app for the platform.

If this works, who knows, it could set a precedent for getting other services to rally behind our platform!
