2 Scheduled GDR Updates for WP 8.1, July & August 2014

Although WP 81 hasn’t even hit our phones yet (developers or not), it seems Microsoft are hard at work on the next updates; or “GDR” (general distribution release). According to the ever reliable Tom Warren, Microsoft will release two GDR updates for WP 8.1, the soonest of which should be available in July (about a month from the 930/first wave of WP 8.1 phones go on sale).

Two GDR updates planned for Windows Phone 8.1. The first arrives by July for new devices. Perhaps a couple of Sony ones. The next is October

Tom also mentions some updates regarding a Sony phone, which is interesting, perhaps Microsoft have agreed with Sony to make some specific changes to the OS to help bring their phones to the market (like Nokia influencing the implementation of BT sharing and Camera changes in WP 7/8).
