The other day another Windows smartwatch render appeared, showing off a square design with a Windows Phone like interface and multiple flashy colors. The Render called the OS “Microsoft Wear”, designed for wearables; and brings Cortana and all of Windows Phone to your wrist. This inspired me to post an editorial/rant about what Microsoft need […]
Check this out, it’s a disassembly of the latest Lumia, the Nokia Lumia 830. This looks to be an official tear down instructional video from Microsoft Care Academy (similar to previous Nokia versions). All this shows is disassembly, not how to repair the device. Don’t try this at home. Cheers adriano for the tip!
Here’s a super cute video of cats and Nokia Lumias, and cats using Nokia Lumia. My cat loves Lumia too and he was (unintentionally) in our 930 unboxing (and seemed to be the only thing noticed in comments).
In these videos, we have a new YouTube user that disassembles and shows how to repair Nokia devices. GadgetDoctorUSA repairs a screen and another for fixing any part. As per usual, disclaimer on voiding warranty should you try this yourself. We are told in the screen video that you might have to wait whilst it’s […]
The Nokia channel mentions Nokia in the title of their video again in this promo for the Nokia Lumia 735/730; The Selfie Phone. Nokia is also mentioned directly towards the end. The tag line is “Share line uncropped” as you can fit more people in to the frame. Though I do somewhat find it […]
Instead of testing and pushing out Cyan first and repeating the same thing with Lumia Denim, O2 Germany have decided with Microsoft to do roll out both at the same time in Q4 2014 as one update process. In “one process” does this mean users at O2 Germany won’t have to update to Cyan first […]
Soon after Microsoft completed their acquisition of Nokia’s devices and services division, they announced that they would cut around 18,000 jobs over the next year. Round one of these job cuts back in July saw nearly 13,000 previous Nokia employees lose their jobs, now according to ZDNet round two is right around the corner. According to Mary […]
Lumia Denim brings even more enhancements to Nokia Lumia WP8.1 devices. I’m enjoying the Dev Preview 8.1 with (i think official) Cyan but I’m really looking forward to the Denim features. “Hey Cortana” – an always-on app where you can activate Cortana by simply saying “Hey Cortana” on your Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520. Lumia […]
Earlier this week as part of an exclusive reveal over at GeekonGadgets we revealed that Microsoft would be benching the “Widows Phone” logo and name in favor of a more unified “Windows” branding for all their device (mobiles, tablets and PCs). Now today an unreleased Windows Phone from “GoFone” leaked online showing off this new […]
In case you weren’t aware, the prolific developer Rudy Huyn, has been making an app for one of the newest social media services called “Secret”. Perhaps a bit like “Post Secret” or “Grouphug.us” where people can posts secrets/confessions anonymously. http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/6cret/8d9e009d-7c3b-4090-9647-9ff9c98b172e With Secret however, you can see posts from friends but it just won’t say which […]
Over on GeekonGadgets we got our hands on a pair of Coloud Bang portable speakers for review, the bottom line is we liked them. Check out a couple excerpts of the review below, and if you’re interested head over to the full review for more pictures, details, thoughts and random stuff. Portable: VERY, at only 96 grams […]
We’ve heard some rumours that Microsoft would be streamlining branding, first by dropping Nokia and keeping it just ‘Lumia’ and secondly, having just ‘Windows’ including cutting out the ‘Phone’ in Windows Phone. Ali’s obtained some documents which has gone full circle, passing by the likes of GSMArena and TheVerge. Since Tom specifically posted it, it’s highly […]
With the curved glass of the screen (first seen with the N9), curved metal edges and interesting external bands for the antenna, some are making comparisons of the new iPhone 6 with the Nokia Lumia 925. Both even have camera bumps, something a bit unexpected until the leaks as it goes against the flush design. […]
Carphone Warehouse already have their hands on up for the Nokia Lumia 830 and 735. On the 730 they say that like all Nokia’s, it’s really well built. The screen is apparently a stand out feature with an awesome front facing camera. Both handsets are ‘coming soon’ to CPW. When specifically? Who knows.
Microsoft’s next big acquisition seems to be in the way of getting Minecraft through purchasing Mojang – a Swedish independent video game developer for 2 billion dollars. Minecraft is now the third best selling game after Tetris and WiiSports http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/2fy63b/microsoft_near_deal_to_buy_minecraft/ Notch, creator of Minecraft, is noted to have claimed turning down that amount of money (in reference […]
