Whilst Windows Phone attempts to place itself as the ideal solution for those professionals at work, it’s funny to consider that for those who might be at an office, printing with your Windows Phone might not be so straightforward.

If there is a specific app, like the one HP has for WP, that might help. It turns out there are other apps for Brother printers, and a couple more generic ones, here and here. I had a quick search and other than Airprint on iOS for printers that support it, wireless printing from your phone doesn’t seem to be that rosy of a deal on other platforms either. To be fair, wireless printing is a pain on its own whether I’m using Mac/PC, let alone phone.

Microsoft careers posted an advert looking for a Software Development Engineer that would focus on printing. They want to revolutionise the printing platform within windows and make it an area for differentiation in future products. MS points out that printers are the most common desktop peripherals ( I would have thought mouse/keyboard).

The Microsoft team want to have the best platform for printers, and it includes developing a printing platform for Windows Phone (as well as Xbox/Tablet/Server)
