One of the major phone retailers in the UK, employing over 5500 staff with 550 stores (720 total outlets) in the country has fallen into administration.  All stores from Monday will be closed! That’s where I got my Nokia Lumia 920 back in 2012 (on EE Orange) :O.

The BBC says Phones4U is blaming EE for not renewing their contract. Having said that Vodafone and O2 also cut ties with Phones4U (O2 back in February). EE was just the last ones standing.

Vodafone had instead strengthened ties with the merged ‘Dixons Carphone’ (Dixons and Carphone Warehouse).  The Telegraph says that Phones4U were in talks with EE about renewing their contracts but the commercial terms put by the retailer was out of line with ‘industry norms’. Phones4U are said to have walked away from negotiating table.
