Where would WindowsPhone be right now if Microsoft-Nokia and/or buyout deal didn’t happen?
There’s always a lot of talk about what would happen to Nokia if X/Y/Z did or didn’t happen.
But what about the other party involved: Microsoft.
What would happen to WindowsPhone if:
a) The Nokia-Microsoft deal on February 11th DIDN’T happen
b) if post Nokia-Microsoft deal, Nokia decided to go it alone and MS didn’t have their own Lumia branch anymore?
How significant was Nokia’s involvement to the survival and or success of WindowsPhone? We’re not even talking about a Nokia with another OS becoming competition to WP, just the WP-environment without the Nokia input.
Some might think Nokia had a significant part to play. Others might say it could have hindered things in certain ways.
