I updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 Technical Preview – are you on W10?
Yesterday the insider preview for Windows 10 went live. My ancient Acer is on its last knees so I thought why the heck not.
You can either install it:
- over whatever your PC is currently (e.g. Win7/8) – all your files stay the same
- clean install (put the ISO on an external drive and format the drives)
- in virtual machine.
At least that’s the gist I got. I chose to do the easiest install. It kept pretty much everything the same which I was surprised about. There were some apps that stopped working but overall they’re all still there. I think I managed to watch about 7 episodes of the first season of Scrubs in the time it took to install.
Cortana doesn’t work – it says not available for my region.
Other than that, everything works pretty much the same. There’s a new multiple desktop option like mac (though I haven’t worked out what the shortcut is to change between them).
