Nokia E7 Flip Test of latest QWERTY-touch hybrid hinge

The E7 is the biggest touch-QWERTY hybrid phone from Nokia, sporting a very practical and beautiful tilt-screen design first seen in the Nokia N97.

How does the tilt-flip action feel? Well very solid actually. One thing you’ll note is that it’s nigh on impossible to open with one hand. Although this demo was short, when I asked someone working on the E7 that’s what they told me. (They and I could be wrong, there maybe one way of opening the E7 one handed, though why you’d want to operate landscape one handed is another thing when E7 has great portrait action) The E7 has a VERY secure METAL hinge. When closed, it remains closed and with that slim profile, you’d be hard pressed to guess it was anything other than a candybar.

Easy opening of the E7 occurs when you push down at the left side (will not open if you push horizontally). When you reach a certain point, the E7 springs open. Closing can be done one handed, and the E7 snaps shut.
