Nokia Lumia, Welcome to Singapore!
And so, it’s finally here for those hundred lucky people who queued up for the beautiful Lumia 800. Well, they certainly deserved it as they had to brave the rain and the sun and one guy actually waited since 5am in the morning. Now that’s what I call passion, iSheeps!
For the rest of us mere mortals, the retailers will only begin selling the Lumia 800 this coming Saturday 10 December. Apparently, the handsets will come in Black and Cyan, though for Magenta I am not so sure. Also, like I mentioned yesterday it will be priced at S$ 775, without contract. If you wish to purchase one with contract, you will have to wait for Saturday to find out more from the Operators: Starhub, Singtel and M1.
On top of this, Nokia will be launching the Lumia 710 shortly at S$505. So for those who really desire a Nokia Windows Phone but are on a tight budget, this is definitely good news.
The launch in Singapore is truly a significant milestone for Nokia as it is their first foray into the Asian market with the new Windows Phone platform. In recent years, Nokia’s market share has been waning in Singapore and other South East Asian markets as consumers flock to the new-fangled Apple and Android. Hopefully, this new strategy with Microsoft will work even though Windows Phone has failed to gain much traction here on our sunny island.
Nevertheless, judging from yesterday’s turn up, I guess some Singaporeans are game for change. Nokia’s future in Singapore and the SEAP region might not be as ominous as you trolls think.
