MyDreamNokia: Nokia 3220 nostalgia & the Lumia 622
The Moto X maybe stealing the spotlights with its customization, but Nokia is certainly a leader in this area it didn’t just steal the lights with highly customized devices, it used to create light shows “Â literally”.
Nokia introduced the Nokia 3220 eight years ago, it was a colorful phone you could have in white, blue, red and black frames that surrounded a see-through casing, that came with artworks you could replace with anything.
Nokia didn’t set people up to buy expensive artwork, instead it equipped the Nokia 3220 with a paper cutter and encouraged people to make their own, my favorite material was notebook covers that came in 3D, it certainly made for great back covers for that phone.
Nokia also equipped the Nokia 3220 with a light show, where the phone had four translucent rubbers covering an array of colorful led lights that would dance to music, you couldn’t wait for it to ring at night.
It also had wave messaging cover that sent messages in the darkness with light!
You enter the message you want to show in the app that comes with it, wave the phone in the darkness and through light illusion you’ll actually read what its saying even across the street.
(I know most of people wouldn’t believe this as I didn’t get to see it myself until very recently in a Youtube video.)

Nokia couldn’t help but screw this phone over, it had no IR port,  No BT, no MMC and no standard headphone jack!
A phone marketed to youngsters that didn’t have an audio jack or an sd for music, no custom ringtones and no BT for photo sharing.
I was still working as a phone salesmen at the time and I still managed to sell lots of them specially to the ladies which liked the fashion choices that it enabled.
I believe that like many things Nokia did, some things deserve to be done better, this is why MyDreamNokia today will be the Lumia 622.
Design wise its basically the Lumia 620 with the same 3.8″ screen but with a thinner profile and the same translucent rubber covers and light combinations, it has the exact same specs as the Lumia 625 with radio and super sensitive touch  , dual core 1.2 snapdragon with dual sim support and exchangeable back cover artwork.Â
It’ll be the most amazing mid range device ever and thanks to the rubber sides it’ll be rigid and handle a fall or two, and thanks to the Lumia set of apps it’ll have amazing wow apps at every turn, it has to be shipped with “Blue software” so Nokia can add the lights drivers, (and Nokia should also program an app that mimics wave messaging )
This way Nokia could have recreated an amazing phone without sand bagging it with lack of features that’ll appeal to youngsters in the mid range and keep true to Nokia’s way of doing customization.
So guys tell me what do you think?
