There’s a Happy Birthday post over at Gizmodo wishing Nokia lumia to keep at it, at stay being awesome. Their post looks into the history of Nokia, how they took a leap of faith with WP. Whilst financially it’s not seen as an immediate success, Gizmodo says the sales are more encouraging, surpassing blackberry and making sure WP/Nokia Lumia is that third ecosystem.

They want Nokia and a third ecosystem in this race. We’re told that the only interesting hardware battle in 2013 has been due to Nokia and “their near dominance in the smartphone camera industry”. But more than cameras, Giz recognises that Nokia has been pushing the boundaries of quirkiness, stuffing new features (innovation) because consumers might want them (and they’re actually features thought about on a usability stand point, such as screen readability outdoors or being able to use gloves).

Another thing Nokia Lumia gets praise for is creating “cheap phones that don’t look and feel crap”. Something that some competing manufacturers have realised and are starting on making intruding on low end Lumia territory.

Where does it go from there when MS in in charge of the devices division? Hopefully, that spirit to innovate, to be daring, to bring quality will remain.

Ewan Spence  for AAWP continues the praise and calls the 800 the phone that allowed WP to survive.

Cheers Alvester for the tips!
