Rumor: Cortana Voice Assistant to Launch on WP8 This April; Voiced By Same Voice Actor From Halo Franchise

According to a recent post by “MSFTNerd”, the highly anticipated revamped voice assistant for WP code-named “Cortana” will launch in beta form for US users this April (Microsoft’s Annual BUILD conference is in April). According to the source the voice assistant will be voiced by “Jen Taylor” the same voice actor who plays Cortana in the Halo series. Apparently Cortana can be activated by saying the key phrase “Bing Tell me” and can be asked questions such as:

“.. will it rain today?”
“.. when’s my next meeting?”
“.. how do I get to the American Airlines

It’s unclear however if the phone will always be listening for these commands (like the Xbox One) or if the Voice assistant has to be activated first (currently by keeping the home button pressed). I for one can’t wait to get these new features on my WP, and would love for them to be accompanied with a proper voice recognition, offline dictation available throughout the OS and not just specific areas, what do you guys think?
