When hardware is pretty much identical, what are the OSes really like?

Whilst Michael Fisher likes the new changes to WP, he finds it still a bit rougher than Android in ways. The ecosystem changes not simply in terms of apps now but also wearables. The Android has LED notification support. (Wasn’t there an old WP7 from HTC with that?)

Specific experiences? Much of the OneM8 experiences for Android are here too. Blink Feed looks even more like Windows Phone than WP8.1 does.

Nokia’s double tap to wake is on here but it is missing other of the original HTC One’s other gestures. BUT the WP version doesn’t require you to move the phone first to enable things like Nokia’s double tap to unlock.

Camera UI is identical and the depth stuff “works about as well as it does on Android” he says hastily warning you to take that for what its worth. There’s no Zoe support.

Despite the identical battery and spec configuration, the WP one has a longer battery life.

It’s not the first time there’s been a close hardware port from Android to WP. Samsung has done it and was shamed for being lazy.

This could be interpreted as a positive kind of different in that the WP version isn’t hampered (with devices being identical when turned off).

Could you imagine a 1520 with any other OS?

Cheers Alvester for the tip!
