Windows Phone More Power Conservative than Android; HTC M8 For Windows Outlasts Android Version
Since the HTC one M8 is the first device to run both Android and Windows Phone on truly identical hardware, it gives us a rare glimpse to compare both devices side by side in a clearer light, without any other factors affecting the performance besides the OS at hand. So Slashgear went ahead and did a normal battery rundown test of the two devices in standby mode to see which OS consumed more power when at rest, I personally wasn’t surprised by the results, but only surprised by how much of a difference there was.  In the end of the test, the HTC M8 Windows Phone version outlasted the Android one by a full 9 hours and some, very impressive results for the Windows Phone team.
So it’s safe to assume that Windows Phone is not only less resource hungry, but also less power hungry; good to know.
Coincidentally the Windows Phone version of the device is already selling for cheaper than the Android version, as it’s already been listed at $49 on contract (via Amazon), lower than the original $99 price announced at launch.
