Ars Technica have reviewed the identical hardware of the HTC One and also found that with WP there is indeed better battery on same performance.

Moreover, I.E. appears to have better sunspider javascript scores than chrome. The 801 processor helps edge the 930 out a bit but of course, it’s identical to the Android HTC One M8. Ars does note that Octane and Kraken both run better in Chrome than in Internet Explorer. It’s interesting that in powersaver mode, the HTC One for Android has similar performance to the 630. Battery saver wise doesn’t give that much extra in WP (it seems only certain background tasks are stopped but the phone still runs on full performance/power).
