Importance of (XENON) Flash in daylight
It’s no secret that Steve Litchfield is a fan of Xenon. I am also a flagbearer for #TeamXenon. As some might not be aware, flashes aren’t just useful for night time or low light. During the day, you may be in situations where your subject is in front of some light. Their faces are silhouettes. You could try HDR of some form.
Or just turn on the flash. LED might help a little. Xenon helps a lot (within certain distances of course). In the case of the Nokia Lumia 1020, that’s 1.5 meters. It’s a bit more if you have the 808 PureView and for dedicated devices, such as those with a flashgun, even more.
What to do? For the 1020, you can just leave it on auto. Steve says, “fill in flash’ is automatically, seamlessly used”.
A similar “backlight” scene might help. This option is available on the default WP camera.
