Video: What Windows Phone might look like with Wallpapers/Live Wallpapers – v2.0.2.0.0.11 update for Nokia X2

Check out the new platform update, v2.0.2.0.0.11 for the Nokia X2.

• Opening camera is better (animated) as you swipe right (whilst the viewfinder refresh is shockingly slow, it opens super quick. I don’t know if it was opened previously and left running)
• Nokia smart camera like features
• Live wallpapers that stretch across the 3 panels.

This is what WP might look like if it had wallpapers. Frankly, that doesn’t look that bad (and could be better with the choice of wallpaper). The one screenshotted here is static but live versions are available.

Stretching across gives that horizontal parallax feeling. I don’t know if that would compliment the parallax of the vertical tile wallpaper or make it all too jarring.

Live wallpapers, like say on the old S2, seem interactive, i.e. where ever you touch that’s where some additional/new animation could appear. Or they could just be non interactive animated wallpapers.

• Long press of the back button gives the multitask view as per WP but now happens quicker. Note the background becomes grey and not anything related to the wallpaper.

The X family will soon be going on a permanent holiday, but with the UI looking so similar to WP, it’s an interesting way to test out features without affecting the main user base. Yes, beta testers.

Some of this stuff should have been there from the beginning (like back button for multitask). If the whole purpose of Nokia X was to infiltrate Android with WP UI and MS services at least (and not really Nokia’s poking of the beast to indicate, hey, look what else we could venture into).
