You’re probably aware of the devastation the Philippines has faced with the recent typhoons. – over 800 deaths, destruction of homes leaving over 6 million homeless – and there’s still another typhoon (Lupit) coming.

I heard from family in the Philippines how the local areas in Pasig/Quezon City were just flooded to chest level. Fortunately everyone’s fine – although a lot of belongings were destroyed, they were able to move up to the higher floors for safety – an option many other fililpinos did not have.

Thankfully assistance is coming from several places around the world, and it’s really great to hear that Nokia is also doing their bit to help out the typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Nokia has given 10 Million Pesos (Approx 214,000 USD/130,000GBP) worth of relief goods and medicines which the Philippine National Red Cross and SAGIP Kapamilya are distributing to those in need.

But it’s not just financial aid Nokia’s giving -  Nokia staff in the Philippines have also donated their time distributing relief packs through Nokia’s employee volunteering scheme “Nokia Helping Hands”.

To those helping either financially or volunteering – Salamat Po!

Pagpalain ng Diyos ang Pilipinas.
