N900 has New Firmware Available! V3.2010.02-08!
The N900 has just received a new firmware update from v2.2009.51.1 to V3.2010.02-08! At the moment the update is only available via the N900 itself and not via Nokia Software Updater.
Go to App Manager>Click “Update” and you should see an update for Maemo 5. Make sure to make backups just in case.

Packages updated include:
Will update this post on actual changes in a mo.

still not available for Vodafone handsets : (
still not available for UK handsets. i have just checked. (WIFI, + G3)
Getting following error during updating process:
“Not enough memory in target location”
got it in Canada – have to use software updater though, not letting me do it over air
FYI – change log: http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_5/PR1.1.1
No noticeable changes in this update.
its available in UK market. u need to check in gray market stores.
For those who’re having funny error message and not able to update the new firmware, please check your n900 rootfs has at least 42MB of free space. You can check your rootfs free space through some apps like Conky. Try uninstall those apps from Extra Testing and Extra Devel repo.
For those who can’t see the firmware update through App Manager, most probably you have missed the PR1.0.1 update. I just realize the availability of PR1.1.1, just can’t wait to update right now! Anyway, some said the latest firmware has speed up n900 significantly.
Anyone else in the UK still checking for updates several times a day or wondering where these “grey market” thingies are and if they are to be trusted?
Just got home to UK with my US purchased N900 (Thanks Amazon.com) and reading the above am pleased to avoid the usual carrier firmware restriction issues that some of my countrymen seem to be suffering…
I’m sure it will be along at some point. I think there was a day’s delay on the last major one. A wee one showed up followed by the biggie. The numbers look vaguely familiar so I think that they are likely to have been 1.0.1 and 1.1 but if not, and for others…..

Is it possible to have missed PR1.0.1 and be on PR1.1? If so how could you tell for sure and how would that be remedied?
Nokia Phones are 10 times better than Iphone!
I hate IPhone; there are all resrcitions from APPLE like microsoft!…
I got bored waiting and flashed the phone with the global version of the new firmware. http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php
I noticed in there that there was listed a UK variant of the first version available. I assuming that that variant has the slower upgrade path.
Maybe now I have the global one I’ll get the firmware updates at the same time as everyone else.
I was pleasantly surprised at the painlessness. All my contacts and calendar entries were still present as were many of my settings such as ring tone, browser bookmarks etc.
I had done a backup so could possibly have done a restore of the application list but did have a couple of items from extras-devel and if they were unoptified and had been wiped it could have caused more of an issue so I just re-installed the apps. All application settings were preserved as were playlists for mediabox.
So far all seems good and I have experienced no issues.
Its the 9th of march and ive checked every day for the past 2 weeks and still no firmware.
I live in the UK and my current version is : 2.2009.51-1.203.2
any ideas why there isnt 1 for mine yet ?
oh and its not restricted, i bought it from Nokias UK online store… Sim free
I think that was what I was on.
Seriously, the firmware flashing really is quite painless and almost everything (theme, desktop shortcuts and application list are lost) is preserved.
I really am hoping as well that flashing to the global varient, rather than than the one that started out as the UK specific will mean that next time I get my updates along with everyone else.
