Eldar's Review of N8 = Disappointment

| April 26, 2010 | Comments (0)

Hi all,

I’m sure you have all heard of Eldar from Mobile-Review.com, well he’s got his hands on a pre-production version of the Nokia N8 which we were expecting and have seem glimpses of but unfortunately it looks like he is not very impressed with the device. He even thinks someone Nokia have hired is sabotaging the products:

In the aspect of the interface can only say one thing. All changes Symbian ^ 3 describes jackstraws earlier. I can only express my thoughts. In short – do not like. No development that we see in Android, iPhone OS, other systems, the same Bada from Samsung. Exactly the same as it was before with the same sauce, but with little change in functionality. Brushed, washed, but not polished. They made cosmetic customization, which should appeal to users. And she does not like. The feeling is that Nokia had settled in fairyland, in which users buy products company tons. However, it is not. And Nokia N8 as the flagship looks not just pale, it is something vague. Advertising to attract attention, will sell and sell. To scare Nokia brand even more people. The sense that the ranks of Nokia scouts ran into another vendor who conduct sabotage. Purposefully destroying the brand Nokia.  Step by step. Otherwise it is impossible to explain what is happening.

I completely agree with Eldar, if someone is not in Nokia sabotaging things from the inside, what are they playing at, they have already pushed back the launch of the Symbian^3 OS which they told everyone was coming early. If they are unable to keep to the deadlines they make themselves, why promise them in the first place! At this rate Nokia will loose even more customers then ever before, with the approaching iPhone launch, the great device form HTC like the Desire and even the HD2, Nokia will not be able to survive.

Eldar tell the truth: N8=fail. All this time for this! I wonder if someone in nokia Team want that company go ahead… This Symbian ^is awful, it’s the same 5th edition with some minor changes.
i’m very disappointed about this phone. the form-factor doesn’t impress me much. How this phone can compete with iPhone or HTC Desire??

When Nokia released the underpowered hardware specs on the N97 , I suspected some internal rats and fools. It was so weird that an n95 fan had to downgrade hardware to update to Nokia’s N96,n97. Then Nokia released the N900 with excellent processors and great OS but the thing was too heavy.
Now i sincerely hope the n8 has good hardware(ram and processors)and stable software. Otherwise i would suspect again something smells amongst Nokia’s top product decision makers.
I don’t mind the N97 UI on the N8. The N97 UI has it’s ups and downs like all smartphones.

Don’t rush to judge it. I am not sure that Eldar had really a prototype device on his hands, or he doesn’t conclude just from five photos. The phone seems to have some really impressive features (12MP camera, xenon flash, 720p video capturing, HDMI, 720p video playing on a TV, 5.1 surround sound playing), nice looks and dimensions, and an OS that will hopefully be more fluid, easy and responsive than S60 5th (but the same as powerful). We all know how Symbian^3 looks like, everything is there on the Symbian Foundation site, and anyone can propose new features for the upcoming versions, the OS is open-source. What he don’t know yet is how responsive will be on the particular device, or some extra features (e.g. the rumoured integration of phonebook with facebook – the phone will download the pictures of your contacts). I am really impressed with the phone, and the only thing that I would ask would be a qwerty keyboard.

I read Eldars review a few days ago and I must say I totally disagree with the whole review. Nokia must’ve had a reason for pushing back the release of Symbian 3 so stop complaining of delayed releases. Personally I think Eldar is a Nokia hater himself.

This device has the most impressive spec on ANY smartphone on the market, and before anybody is quick to comment on that FACT, I am speaking of combined hardward and software. To add to that, they have also said that this phone will be 370EURO. Last time I checked my failed N97 and impressive N900 both cost 500pounds.

Saying that, I’m still not replacing my N97 with it, I’d rather wait for the first MeeGo phone, but may consider this one day. Check it out and have a look closer at the spec and TRY to disagree.

don’t get me wrong mate, I do agree with you as well, I understand this is a proto and from the video’s released today, hopefully it will actually be a much better device then Eldar has, but the problem is that Nokia have not changed the OS in Symbian^3 as much as they probably should have, a lot of it is tweaks and minor additions rather then a new experience which is why I understand where Eldar is coming from, but he is definitely being more harsh then he should be!

  6. pffft says:

What a fool – it’s a prototype for a reason… imagine if he’d got hold of an even earlier proto LOL. “OMGZZZZ!! Teh tefelone wont even start ups!”

Maybe Eldar is also in fairyland, could explain how he get hold of stolen property.

hello I want to give advice to those who want to buy nokia n8, if you like animated wallpapers and applications for all or a modern display, do not choose nokia n8, I have sold by desperate, because it is the same as the N97 which has only simbyan a little more responsive than a 12 megapixel resolution photos and turns in hd viedo, moreover, who knew the good and bad of nokia n97 mini every now and then crashed and had to restart already imagines how n8, simbian is precisely that of the first, I can not afford to talk about it because up until yesterday has Alro Crazy For nokia and for 10 years if not more so I had nokia, but that’s enough. was true of the Nokia phones are well built and reliable, but there are around terminals that are very competitive thanks to the ever-lota to make one more powerful than ever, while the Nokia is just admiring them. The above was correct when I wrote it, but a lot has changed!

I take it that you have not heard of the latest news with the Symbian OS, it will no longer be different for Symbian^3, Symbian^4, etc, it’s now going to be one continuously updating OS so when Symbian^4, or whatever is it called is released, it will be available for the N8 and others, so why not get the N8!

I have the N8 now and I love it, it’s a great phone and everyone I show it to likes it as well!
