3 Nokia N8 Video Hands On: With PhoneDog's Noah, AAS' Rafe Blandford and The Nokia Blog (via Ira)

Here’s three of the most trusted voices in mobile laying their hands and sharing their thoughts on the upcoming Nokia N8.

Well technically, Mark isn’t talking, it’s Ira Frimere from Nokia giving the demo. Anyway, go check these out.

Phone Dog’s Noah Kravitz

  • Impressive HDMI connection, 720p with 5.1 surround
  • Check out Noah’s AT&T 3G signal
  • ..12mp with a flash (not just any flash, a real one!)
  • …largest sensor on a phone, echoed some things Apple said about size of pixel (echoed Apple? I thought Nokia’s been saying this since April )
  • Noah says there’s a Nokia “white” that he’s reading off a spec sheet. White?
  • Pinch to zoom in the browser’s frikkin smooth! What’s that about.
  • Accelerometer with web browser works in both landscape directions
  • Protective casing to come soon that will give smooth back to N8
  • “Cool to see some innovation coming from Nokia”

All About Symbian’s Mighty Rafe Blandford

  • Rafe’s blue N8 looks sorta gun metal like in this video
  • Note the long press circle that shows you that your key press is being registered.
  • Rafe notes the smaller side bar (though in reality we shouldn’t have one given the stupid space wasting above and below the thumbnails)
  • I really like the portrait cover flow with tracklist at bottom. Great for quickly switching tracks from one album to another without having to go through arduous menus.
  • Time between shots is very fast (9MP 16:9 setting)
  • Check out WebTV – getting streaming video onto device. Love BBC iPlayer  now you have other video content apps.
  • There seems to be a transition in the wallpaper when selecting (or is that just the camera adjusting?)
  • Best screen Rafe’s seen on a Nokia device.
