Nokia N8 DivX playback natively and Gorilla Glass confirmed?

Apparently, Damien Dinning has confirmed at Nokia Conversations (in reply to a question) that the Nokia N8 will have the elusive DivX playback capability (once confirmed before then immediately retracted – though other users have claimed their N8s played DivX natively). Thanks for the heads up again, eagle eyed mrbean aka Marc.

Unless that’s someone pretending to be Damien, well that’s awesome!

DivX playback out of the box means your whole home entertainment with a cinema in your pocket is complete. Compress your old videos or just port your DivX collection over to the N8 and playback over HDMI. Apparently for files the N8 does not recognize, windows media player (or some sort of player) will convert files before transferring to the Nokia N8 (though was this in .mkv?)

Damien has also indirectly confirmed Gorilla Glass before in answering Steve Litchfield’s questions during their interview, though at the time, some argued Damien was agreeing to “scratch resistant glass” rather than actual “Gorilla Glass”.
