Video: Nokia RM-626/E7/"N9"/N8-02/N98/N8 QWERTY China Clone

| July 13, 2010 | Comments (0)

The RM-626 still does not have an official name (originally called N98, later N9, but also E7 and N8-02) and now there is a clone. The demo girl calls it the Nokia N98, showing off the Nseries branding (the series let alone the name is debatable in the RM-626)

This is your usual dual-sim variety, coming with 2 batteries, (because each die in 30 minutes) and looking radically obese in comparison to the fantastically slim real RM-626. Amongst the list of superficial changes (smaller screen, colour scheme, overall design, camera, removable fake BL-4D), the main one is the 3 row (N97 mini keyboard) vs the newer 4-row keyboard (with spacebar in the middle). As for the software, it attempts to clone the fever inducing S60 5th edition.

The site watermarked in the video doesn’t seem to actually list this handset.

Yes,China is fast for making clones

  2. Keith says:

I freakin hate clones! I don’t even know why hey make them and why some people even buy them! I mean if u don’t have enough money, go buy a low-end legit smartphone eh! U can get them pretty cheap these days. The quality of these phones suck like crazy and would run for 6 months max! What’s the use??!

  3. N#O#R#U#L#E#S says:

    ME TOO
    I HATE CLONES

  4. Caleb says:

At least it seems like a fairly snappy device. Not bad for a clone I guess…

    • Keith says:

I bet it feels plasticky. In fact, it is plastic. Plus, I could hear that squeaky noise when she was showing the hardware of this phone! I don’t think ANYONE would want that kind of build quality

  5. mja says:

Play dot com seems to list N8 for August 31st release (via noknok).

  6. Jim says:

I don’t understand this people. If they can clone phones so fast, why not trying to create one of their own?

  7. Jay Montano says:

I think these clones are for the same people that buy fake gucci wallets, fake prada purses, fake jpg cologne etc. They want the image without the price. Kinda sad though as this is a really, really ugly fake that isn’t a patch on the original (some are deceptively real, others like this are meh)

  8. IMarius says:

that is the ugliest on screen keyboard i have ever seen .

And clones are pointless, cause the build quality is so very bad, your better off waiting for older handsets prices to come down.

I hope once the N8 and some newer Nokia handsets come out , i can pick up a cheap N97 mini or N900 for the gf.
