Nokia N8 for 289.97GBP!!!!! Found in the Tesco Catalogue. No contract!
I was looking up twitter, trying to catch up on my DMs, replies and such and found this from @UGN999. Well technically not twitter since that’s from twitpic but this is more visual
Has Tesco, the fourth largest retailer in the WORLD with 30.5% market share in UK alone, spoilt the surprise of the ridiculously value for money Nokia N8? Or is it a typo? Will all those who preordered at £429 be getting super quick rebates? In this twitpic, the Nokia N8 in the catalogue is priced at 299.97. What a ridiculously low price. No contract. Nothing. Just Tesco Mobile.

Just to check it out for myself, I headed over to tesco and saw this. Nokia N8 for 289.97GBP! Oddly enough, in yesterday’s post, this equates to roughly 449USD, which one of our sources suggested would be the selling price of the Nokia N8 in the US.

hi can someone help i want to get other half the n8 for xmas but not on a contract because he on contract but he really wants this phone. would his sim work straight into this phone or could it be unlocked elsewhere? i dont know much about phones etc so any help would be greatly recieved.thanks

Tesco wont let you unlock it until after 12 months
So does this mean, carphonewarehoues is the cheapest to get it off contract?
wooow. same price on O2. well well well. but i am still strugling to find a possiblity to unlock it. checking help desk on o2.co.uk

Also O2 have it as GBP330 on pay as you go, I wonder if you can un-lock that too.
Spoke to O2 the customer service rep said that they will not unlock the phone until 12 months is up.
There is also a £15 unlock fee.
I can confirm that you can unlock the Nokia N8 bought from Tesco. I have personally bought 2 and unlocked both. The cost for that is £20…. You will get £20 from tesco when you make your first call…so you can use that £20 for unlocking (depends on the employee…first time i tried they said u have to top up by £20 and then second time the guy just took the £20 that tesco had put on…) which was great!
Just a heads up for anyone thinking of buying from Tesco, from next monday you can double up your vouchers you have. So basically a £5 voucher can be doubled up to £10 for certain departments ( i believe tesco direct is one of them)!
Should i ask about unlocking from tesco phone shop staff or tesco direct staff? because they told me that they were seperate.

Hi, Anil. I bought one from Tesco Direct today. I gave a call to their Costumer Care and they said that I have to top up £20 and they will take it off my account but worst thing is its gonna take up to 28 days to give me the code to unlock. How exactly did u unlock your phone? Could you explain me in detail please?
I contacted tesco for a unlaching code for my n8 they want £20 and they say 28 days i ask why 28 days answer they have to get the code from the manufacture total rubbish, i contacted nokia and they say that the network provider ie tesco, is the only way you can get the code and thats , from tesco because you bought the phone at cheaper price nothing to do with nokia
