Nokia N8 on Rogers Wireless Canada – 80CAD subsidized, just 449CAD unlocked! (That's 276GBP :O)
BGR says upcoming Road Map for Rogers Wireless - Canadian Mobile Carrier reveals that the Nokia N8 will be as low as 79.99CAD subsidized on contract with the unlocked no term, no contract variety going for just 449.99CAD. Holy crap, is that with or without tax? 449.99CAD at current exchange rate to GBP would make it 276.60GBP! That’s ridiculously cheap!

Isn’t that AWESOME?! I REALLY hope N8 is advertised heavily here in Canada and that other carriers like Telus and Bell get it too. That would attract more people

Hey Jay, I noticed something here. There’s some mistakes in the pictures. If you go down to the last picture, you’ll see that N8 is listed to have Quad band instead of Penta band, said to be running on S60 (HAHA!), and even interestingly, N97 Mini is listed to cost $499.99 unlocked!
I guess they should correct all that………
They’ve listed it as Pentaband. The quadband is for gsm.
That’s crazy cheap. Using n8 to take photographs of my daughter is already worth every cent.
This is amazing! I can’t believe it’s only $80 w/ 3 yr contract…i thought it’d be at least over $200! Awesome deal! I can’t wait to see if Rogers will carry other Symbian^3 devices! And even MeeGo devices next year?!
3 year contracts are absurd. Especially with how quickly mobile technology is progressing. I’m already counting down the days until the end of my 18 month contract, anything longer than that then I would have to buy it unlocked. In this case the N8 is a steal at £267 unlocked.
yeah $449 is NOT including taxes (in Canada we don’t show the prices with taxes in)
depending on what Province you’re in it ranges from 5%-15%

it was available for 490.9004 U.S. dollars for pre order by a carrier called “ufone” in pakistan . with few extra accessories like car charger etc. pretty good deal . a 25 % discount + extra stuff + discount on internet. = all without any contract

Thanx for Article Jay and Stylinred..For some reason Rogers is being secretive about this.. I checked their website for anything N8 and nothing. I have emailed them two days ago about a similar article, but nothing..yet… They made such a big promo on the iphone4, but nothing on the N8!? I would be surprised if $449.99 CAD is the price without contract as the cheapest I have seen for a flagship smartphone is $549.99 CAD.. It would be wonderful if I am proven wrong.
n8 is only the “camera flagship” other wise a mid-high range phone
It makes sense Ahsan that it would be a “camera flagship” or mid-high range phone. The high ends as stated by Nokia to be Meego and not Symbian… Maybe wait for the N9??
i am waiting for it :S but maybe that’s because i dont have 40 k rupees right now [messed up economy] to buy an n8 xD
yeah you wont find any official info from Rogers until they decide to give it out but if you know anyone who works for them or runs a Rogers wireless stall/store you’ll hear more; a local wireless store tells me they’ve already put their orders in for N8 units and a friend that works for Rogers tells me Nokia reps came by a little while ago showing them the phone and gave them a “how-to” about the N8; So it’s coming for sure but we just have to wait a couple more weeks

That will work out to a little under $500 with GST, plus a bit more depending on which province you live in and how much PST/HST you’d have to pay. Still probably cheaper than the cheapest pre-tax price I’ve come across so far. Even better, this means I’ll actually be able to go into a Rogers store and try one out for myself, which will be nice since most of the places I’ve found that sell it in Canuckistan are online stores.
On downside, I doubt it’s actually unlocked if you buy it off-contract. It is probably still SIM-locked to Rogers, which would be disappointing but understandable. I won’t be sad if I’m wrong about this, though.

That’s all well and good, but that it was available from a carrier in Pakistan unlocked really doesn’t tell me whether Rogers, a Canadian carrier, will do the same.

Has anyone actually bought the phone from Rogers? Every time I click on the phone from the Rogers web site, it crashes and they haven’t fixed it in weeks. I think they are just using it as a gimmick to get advertisements.
I’ve just bought one from a Rogers store in Toronto for $449 plus tax with no contract. The last thing I asked the sales rep was “….so the phone is unlocked, yes?”. He said no, but is checking to see if Rogers will agree to unlocking ofor an additional $50 fee. I’ve told him I’ll be returning it if it’s not unlocked. He says he’ll get back to me by close of play on 21st. I’ll post a comment when I hear.
