Video: Mood Agent Genius Playlist DJ – trial improved version at Nokia Beta Labs -demoed on N8
Mood Agent is an automatic Playlist DJ that can configure playlists based on your mood. In fact, if the app seems familiar, that’s because it was previously called Playlist DJ.
Why would you want this? Well you might have a bucket load of music on your phone, and when you want to listen to some music, you don’t really know what to listen to. An easy thing to base on is your mood and you can do this simply by moving the mood sliders; sensual, tender, joy, aggresive as well as a tempo slider to decide how quick you want your tracks to sound. Based on whatever it is you’re feeling, Mood Agent will make a playlist from your library to suit your mood. You can kick tracks out if they don’t suit Mood Agent’s suggestions.
You can also create a new playlist based on the “mood” of any track you like, i.e. play similar songs. Like Sony’s old “Artist Link” in the walkman days to play similar genre songs now popularised with iTunes “Genius” playlist.
This app is for S60 5th and Symbian^3 devices. Mood Agent is available at the Ovi Store but a newer improved version is available over at Nokia Beta Labs. If you find any buys, or think of features you think Mood Agent could use, please send Nokia Beta Labs your feedback.
There’s an FAQ for you to look at too for any questions you may have that might be answered here.

There needs to be more music apps in Ovi store. I’ve noticed there aren’t a lot, and most of the ones on there arent anything special. Would love to see a guitar toolkit app for N8 or other such apps with a good interface – hopefully built in Qt coz it is the future for Nokia. (Metronome is really needed, can’t believe something as simple as metronome isnt present on Ovi Store)
The interface here is good and similar to the S60 5th ed playlist DJ app. I guess I’ll be trying this one

BTW, Nokia are apologizing in the comments for the rude behavior Alan got at CES.

id actually like the built in music player to be a bit more robust…. aside from the Coverflow it doesn’t seem like they did anything with it in fact it seems like they took away
i cant type the name of a song in anymore, although its easy to scroll i’d like that option available especially since i’ve a large music collection
and i can’t have just the album cover showing etc when playing tracks -_-
I just love that app!
