Nokia are running another programme to court developers to their platform. In the Philippines, Nokia are working with Globe (one of the major networks) to encourage developers to build innovative applications for Ovi Store.

“This is an opportunity for the Filipino developer community to harness and improve their craft while showing to the rest of the world just how talented Filipinos are with the latest technology” Rhomel Marcojos, Nokia Philippines Senior services marketing manager.

For every application successfully published to Ovi Store, Nokia will be awarding $1000. That’s roughly, 43,700PHP direct conversion.

The development platform to be used here will either be Qt, or Java MIDP. These apps will then be published to Ovi Store, which has grown an astonishing 719.4% from the last year with 4 million daily downloads and higher profit margin than Android Market. In the Philippines alone, Nokia’s Ovi Store reached 1 million monthly downloads in December 2010. That’s 75% growth in 3 months.
