Here are a couple of videos about Microsoft related ads. Putting your opinions of Microsoft or Windows Phone to one side, let’s take a look at both of them in the context of, just being adverts.

The first one is a brilliant fan made ad going slightly viral. Receiving 34,000+ hits from around two and a half days of being public. It was created by a FAN, NOT Microsoft, called Brandon Foy. He’s doing his internship at the prestigious Full Sail University, one of the main places to be for animation, film and design. It’s got a catchy soundtrack and the imagery is beautiful. The take home message is “We Love WP7”. The only thing used are components of Windows Phone – the tiles, the smooth interface – it looks really slick and suggests this is what you’ll get with Windows Phone 7. The whole thing is designed to make you WANT windows phone by showing only Windows Phone. Looking cool.

I prefer this to the official Microsoft ad that shows pretty much every other phone except windows phone. Both videos are really way better than anything we’re seeing from Nokia.

This second video shows Microsoft’s “Really?” campaign about how Windows Phone is “Designed to get you in…and out and back to life” where as “other smartphones” don’t really help you get things done. In fact, MS suggests those ot her smartphones interferes with your real life.  The fact that the official MS ad is on Time Square NY show’s Microsoft’s ginormous advertising budget in action which should help the “ecosystem” gain awareness amongst the average joes.
