Video: Sony Ericsson Xperia arc Vs. Nokia N8 video test
Newcomers like the LG Optimus 2x is trying to usurp the Nokia N8′s crown for imaging and video. The N8 supports last year’s best 720p HD but now, competition is coming in with 1080p. Now we know the story that it’s not all about added resolution; colour, fluidity, sharpness of video and clarity of audio combine to make a great video recording. Some neat perks help too perhaps like some video stabilization, continuous autofocus or “active hyperfocal distance” and usable digital zoom.
The folks at BesteProduct have the new Sony Xperia Arc and have put it against the Nokia N8. Who does the better job? And with N8 as LAST year’s product, what on earth should be expect from its successor? Hopefully Damien Dinning and co haven’t become too sidelined with the whole WP stuff.

Winner is N8 of course, with poor camera ui, no slow mo, no integrated panoroma, no smile catch…… Etc..
But the best is n8.. Let’s hope they will add those feautres with pr 3.0.. I cant say pr 2.0 after watched the c7 with pr 2.0..
awesome
Long live the N8. I doubt the competition will match the N8′s camera until at least Q3/Q4 2011.
Most of the competition haven’t even caught the N86, Android camera are very bad, maybe the iPhone 6 (2012) will be a match.
I agree with Jay though, I hope Nokia keeps giving us great camera phones with WP and possibly Meego.
A Harmattan/MeeGo phone with the N8′s camera would be heaven. I recently started looking at videos of the N900 in action and I’m blown away by how amazing the OS is. I have no idea how Nokia didn’t manage to break into the market with Maemo 5.
Too scared. Any time there’s something brilliant going on at Nokia, they back away. It’s like they purposely WANT TO FAIL.
XPERIA ARC have sensor EXMOR R and can record 30 fps + led flash .
Nokia N8 record 25 fps + NO led flash .
SE – Born to be winner
30fps can easily be used with a simple “hack”. And as you can see from the video, their Exmor may be better than most offerings in the Android army but no where near the quality of the Nokia N8.
the exmor r sensor no doubt helps in low light. But after looking at preview pics (some with no light and they compared the shots with n8), the noise levels are quite high, it ruins the picture. so yes you can see a bit better, but it’s not nice to look at.
video wise, well, when you go to the movies, they use 24fps, and there’s no difference between 24 and 30fps…check the videos, no lags. Some reviewers have noted the Arc duplicates some scenes to make up the 30fps, but it’s still smooth so no issues there.
yes the LED is an advantage for the arc, but really unsure as to how much the advantage is as I have not seen the LED + the exmor r in action.
all in all though, the arc is an awesome phone. while the camera is beaten by n8, the UI, the screen (4 inch and doesn’t have the amoled screen issues), the hardware. Won’t say anything re: shape of the phone…some people find it sexy, some find it fingerprint friendly, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder
What i like to know is how big is the differrence by meking a vid in dark places between the Sony Xperia Arc and the Nokia N8, try to convince my that the Nokia N8 is the best.
believe me N8 does not need led flash, video at night is enough clear for me
The N8 kills the arc. Didn’t even expect the margin to be this wide lol.
Arc > show video info > 25fps?
this video recorded samples is not correct
