LG to make MeeGo handsets.

I’m sure some of you guys have tipped us this story before, I’m not sure if we got around to posting it.

Love child of Intel and Nokia, MeeGo was swifty abandoned in the eyes of the media as Nokia took Microsoft as its new Mistress and planned to take on Windows Phone. Of course, Symbian also is getting the same treatment, the once straight A student, now ‘lagging behind’ its new competitors has been given an EOL notification by ELOp.

There’ll still be a MeeGo-Harmattan device out this year from Nokia; possibly the Nokia N950. But no longer is it there to take the high end smartphones for Nokia, it’s just a research project (something maybe for the “next distruption”)

Good news: Reuters writes that LG are looking to Adopt MeeGo and make a MeeGo handset. LG electronics have now joined ZTE and China Mobile who are also looking to make handsets running MeeGo.

Cheers T-SHO for the heads up.
