Oh hello. What’s this? Some Nokia event is taking place. And it’s a REAL event (not like those previous over hyped ones) featuring Stephen Elop. I thought we would have to wait until Nokia World 2011 (October) for Windows Phone from Nokia.

On June 21st, Mr Elop will talk about the NEW ecosystem and set the stage for new product and service launches. PRODUCT LAUNCH FOR NEW ECOSYSTEM = WINDOWS PHONE from Nokia? Unless it’s MeeGo cos that’s sort of a new ecosystem for Nokia as well (but never used in this context of “new ecosystem). Nokia Conversations said a few weeks to go for new goodies.

Mr. Stephen Elop will provide an overview of Nokia’s new strategy, including an update on the company’s partnership with Microsoft, and the resulting new ecosystem and the importance of the South East Asia Pacific market in the new strategy. He will set the stage for a number of exciting Nokia product and service launches.

There’s also something about Nokia’s next billion with the cheaper “mobile phones” – new devices there too. I think that might be over shadowed somewhat if we see some Windows Phones from Nokia.

update: 1) Elop updates on new ecosystem and partnership with MS 2) New product launches. I might have got over excited. They’re not necessarily connected. It could be setting the stage for MeeGo or even the more boring mobile phones category.

Now I think about it more, it can’t be Windows Phone as it’s impossible for that to come out before September (Mango isn’t ready). 🙁 Blergh. That’s what you get for revising blood disorders and skimming tips. I hope we get N9/N950!!

Update (2) The website actually mentions that this IS the most important Nokia event of the year. I thought that was just a feeling by some bloggers mentioning so:

This is an exciting time for Nokia! A solid strategy is in place and the execution of that strategy has started!

Join Nokia Connection 2011 to experience first-hand, the new Nokia ecosystem that will be introduced to the world. This site offers a one-stop location for information on Nokia’s biggest event of the year.

Bigger than Nokia World? Unless, unwittingly this IS Nokia World under a different name.
