@Harkison tweeted that we should check out an app called GoToMenu on Ovi Store and we did. For those that cannot wait to do some swiping, this app lets you swipe between your menu and homescreen (instead of using the menu button.

Down gesture to go to menu view and left swipe to go back to homescreen. You can have the app autostart and leave it running in the background. I have no idea what battery impact this will have as I’ve just installed it.

Here’s a video demo of it (darn camera has no continuous AF :s)

As you’ll see, there’s no animation to show you the swiping (which is just as important as the animation directs the user as to where and what action is going).

GoToMenu allows you to switch between homescreen and menu by one touch to the screen. Slide on the screen from top to bottom to switch to menu. Slide on the screen from right to left to switch to home screen. Note: app work only in portrait mode.

Cheers @harkison!

Update: The developer has shared a video of the upcoming version where you can have more system wide action (not just menu).

Also works in landscape. AND there’s a gesture for multitasking.

If you have other app tips, send them in to tips@mynokiablog.com or mynokiablog.com/tips or tweet me @jaymontano
