has it even been confirmed if dev are buying this phone ? cause it might just be a loan programe.

which means you wont see them on ebay, as the phone would remain property of nokia, and any dev who does not give it back would be in trouble.

  3. Stonmir says:

i will buy it on ebay for 500 euros first time i see it

  4. Mendax says:

Nice as the N950 is, rolling out the N9 for mass consumers was a good move: the phone is quite a brick.

  5. Jeettak says:

I look at this device and the first question which comes to mind is, ‘How can Nokia say, with a straight face, that beautiful slab is not ready for retail consumers?

I’d buy it without a seconds thought.

Hoping to get hold of the N9 if not this device whenever it becomes available.

    • This was what I believe was a preproduction prototype/sample for the carriers. I believe a fault was discovered in the hinge, so these models aren’t able to be given a warranty, hence the “loan/giveaway”.

If you look at the “press photos” leaked of the N950, it has the curved glass of the N9, so I believe we’ll see a refined N950 if the N9 sells at a decent clip. Seems they have plans for an updated N950.

I personally never believed that story.
It’s certainly not why they’re loaned (they’re not given away), if you’ve been following the dev. program.

Nokia why u not want my money?

  9. IamWalrus says:

Honestly, that keyboard doesn’t look to comfortable or easy to use.

    • Jeet says:

Looks can be deceptive. The quality of a keyboard is a personal as finding a comfortable pair of shoes. This can only be determined by making use of said keyboard or trying on the shoes.

    • Taigatrommel says:

Why doesn’t it look good? There have been one or two reports of people compared the N950 keyboard to the one of the E7 and said the N950 one would be even a tad better. Keep in mind the E7 already has a very good keyboard.

I’m also a bit baffled why Nokia does not release this one. However I hope they keep the basic design and will use it later on as a plattform for either Windows Phone 7 or a future Symbian device. I do like it more than the E7 design, even if it is more bulky.

    • Despite looks, I haven’t found a single phone reviewer or dev that doesn’t think this keypad is not only better than anything from HTC, but the best EVER. and this includes all well respected professional reviewers. Even Eldar Murtazin loved its alpha build way last year.

I wonder if Nokia would send me an N950 if I asked?

  11. Smileyguy says:

Guys, can we please send tweets to #OvibyNokia and ask for them to reconsider their position? I sent one with #n950 and #love hash, and they replied telling me that ‘no promises’ but they will ‘let the proper people know’. I seriously am considering the new My Touch 4G Slide which have a good camera and QWERTY. I would rather the N950, but Nokia is giving me no choice. Let’s petition them please and give them a clear message on ready demand :) Thanks!
