Video: XBMC controller for Nokia N950/MeeGo-Harmattan done in 30 minutes.

I saw this story tweeted by a few folks last night (two I can remember being @SimonLR and @joaoluisc ). Basically within half an hour with the N950, milot has created a XBMC controller.

It works a little like Nokia Big screen (well the controller part anyway) with the phone used for navigation and selection functions (Big screen of course plays media from the phone).

Milot says that instead of buttons, swiping gestures are used. Most of the time, when using remote controls, folks don’t look at it. This is more difficult when you have no physical differentiation between keys, so a canvas for swiping makes more sense.

This is just an early iteration. More improvements to come soon.

Something really cool is the use of the proximity sensor when answering a phone call. The video pauses! How awesome is that?! You don’t want to miss your video, but you don’t have to scramble around to find the pause button or lower the volume.
